About The Author

Johnny Klemme

Johnny Klemme is an award-winning farmland real estate advisor who blends financial expertise, strategic marketing, and a deep respect for family legacy in every transaction. As co-owner, broker, and licensed auctioneer at Geswein Farm & Land Realty & Auction (GFL), he has guided Midwest farm families through some of the most important decisions of their lives — across tens of thousands of acres — always with a focus on maximizing value, protecting relationships, and honoring the land.

His first book, American Family Farmland, reflects his lifelong commitment to helping landowners navigate the crossroads of keeping, selling, or reimagining the family farm. More than a guide, it’s an extension of his mission to share the real stories of resilience, innovation, and rural values that shape America’s agricultural heritage.

Johnny’s storytelling extends to filmmaking, with his acclaimed documentary Land Values selected for the Smithsonian’s Water/Ways traveling exhibit and screened internationally, highlighting farmers adapting to modern challenges. His ongoing Stories of Stewardship docuseries continues this work, capturing the voices and experiences of those who care deeply for the land.

At GFL, Johnny leads a team of professional appraisers, advisors, brokers, and farm managers who have collectively handled hundreds of millions of dollars in farmland and rural property transactions. Licensed in Indiana and Illinois, he graduated salutatorian from the prestigious Reppert School of Auctioneering and earned his degree from Purdue University. His leadership has earned multiple national and state recognitions, including:

  • America’s Best Brokerage (The Land Report, 2024 & 2025)
  • America’s Best Auction Houses (The Land Report, 2025)
  • Land.com LAND STAR Top Producer (2023 & 2024)
  • Friend of Conservation Award (State of Indiana SWCD, 2023)
  • Multiple Realtors Land Institute Apex Awards

Under his guidance, GFL has been recognized by AgriBusiness Review as one of the leading agricultural real estate services and farmland auction companies in the nation.

When Johnny isn’t assisting farmers and landowners, he enjoys quality family time on their farm in Warren County, Indiana, fly fishing, upland bird hunting, habitat management, and all things outdoors. A proud Purdue Boilermaker, Johnny and the love of his life, Carrie, recently welcomed the joy of becoming grandparents.
